Its good to be home…I guess. I had a lot of fun hanging out by the pool and playing on the beach in Myrtle Beach. Watching Surfin’ Sid doing the beach bum thing by living with him for a week was very cool. I had learned a lot from him prior to this road trip but seeing him in action for an entire week gave me a totally new perspective.

I don’t know how much the week at the Marriott villa cost him but I didn’t see him spend much money outside of groceries while we were down there. He had several creative ways to save money and we had fun without visiting all of the tourist attractions.

He is planning another trip to Myrtle Beach next spring break. Count me in!

Around 7:00pm Surfin’ Sid broke out his new metal detector and we went beachcombing. Not to much success, but we did make the beach safer by discovering and disposing of some nails and razor blades.

As we decided that it was to dark to continue we started heading back to the resort he discovered a dime. Lucky find.

Not much money earned but still pretty fun. I’m considering getting one for myself.  As a fairly new beach bum I guess my beachcombing skills will need to be honed.

I was hoping to do some surfing this week but the wave breaks here are not going to give a surfer more than 15 seconds of a ride. Not worth my while to rent a board and slither into my wet suit. I’ve enjoyed walking the beach, collecting shells and watching kids with their skimmers.

We have eaten all our meals in the suite which has saved us a ton of cash. This week won’t break the bank, thankfully. The weather has been great, we had heard that last week was cold and rainy. This week has been 70’s and sunny.

Wow!  The villa is excellent.  The balcony overlooks the pool and the beach.  I can’t wait to hit the surf. Surfin’ Sid really came through for this road trip.

Spring has come to Michigan and I have decided to join my friend Surfin’ Sid in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break.  As the weather here in Michigan is still a bit cool and very unpredictable it was decided that heading south for a week made a ton of sense. 

Surfin’ Sid has secured lodgings at the Marriott resort in Myrtle Beach and all I need to do is pack and ride.  Life of a beach bum is wonderful!
