We went for a bike trip up from the Silver Lake area to Ludington. Along the way we stopped in Pentwater. What a quaint little lakeshore town. There was the obiligatory marina and the Charles Mears State Park. The state park is right on Lake Michigan and has a pier that is home to the Pentwater Pierhead Light.

We were a little tired and thirsty so we parked the bikes and went in the grocery store that is right on the main drag in downtown Pentwater. We purchased some pop and rolled down to the beach. I’m a beach bum after all. The state park had camping a la parking lot style. But the beach itself is big and clean, great for sunbathing and swimming.

I recommend the Bitchen Kitchen’s mango lime salsa. It is both hot and sweet. Loved it. The Bitchen Kitchen [not a resturant] is found downtown.

How to get there: Head north on US 31 from Muskegon and take the Pentwater exit. Follow the business loop into town.

Even though it is still officially winter in Michigan I have decided to go pro as a beach bum. I have been tutored by America’s Favorite Beach Bum, Surfin’ Sid and now feel ready to live the beach bum lifestyle.

I will be posting my adventures as a beach bum on this blog as inspiration comes to me. So don’t expect daily posts from me please.

As us Michiganders look forward to summer and all that summer means in Michigan, this beach bum has been offered an opportunity to join Surfin’ Sid in Myrtle Beach over spring break. What an opportunity! I don’t have all the details but I’m leaning towards saying, “Heck Yes!!!”
